SOUTHERN EDM FEATURED ARTIST: pgjr (Exclusive) via Dirty south bass

Picture
"For the first Southern EDM post about anyone from my home state, I knew I’d need something special to drop. So I thought, who better than the hypest EDM DJ I know, Perry Gaffney, Jr. You can’t really get much more Southern than New Orleans; and his music is dirtier than a Bourbon street hooker. PGJR represents a unique blend of Southern EDM, Hip-Hop & Rap from all over the world, and the Mash-up style that provides a live experience like no other, with live mixing to insure that no PGJR show is the same. Dynamic, if you will, my bass-tards."

Perry Gaffney Jr Ft. PNC - Beat Of The World via Mashup L♥ve

Picture
"During my daily "walk about" on soundcloud i found Perry Gaffney with his tune called: "Beat Of The World" and wow... made my day! Another epic song to the list ;)
         - When im listening to this song I could easily imagine myself sitting on the beach with a bunch of friends having a good time, drinkin a couple of beers.
The music is really casual and could easily be played on the radio, since i found it "single" like - and if it were so i would turn up the music thats for sure.
        - Normally when im listening to mash up i would love to get it really mixed with lots of acapellas, otherwise i normally find it kind of boring, but i find this really nice through the whole song"

"A new mashup from Perry Gaffney surfaces today. This mashup is pretty damn entertaining if I do say so myself. In my opinion it seems like this mashup is focused more toward being a “single” that could go on the radio. Maybe Perry is aiming to be recognized…we will see.

Despite the hiccups in the music in some spots, this mash has great potential. I have known Perry to really give it to you, down and dirty, but this one show a more controlled side to his music. What I mean by that is that this song seems like it was made for the casual listener of mashups. That is why i feel like its a “single” off of a future album…perhaps. Even if I am wrong, maybe just me saying this will inspire him to make something like an album for us all to have in the future…who knows."

PGJR Live at Mike’s in Tigerland Opening Set Part 2/2

Picture
".................... Let’s go through some highlights:
A really impressive point is at 5:40. I love the build up that Perry creates. I know that the music is going to drop and by the time it does, I am pumped to the point of no return, then at 6:05 the music drops and shit gets intense. Fucking love that part and could listen to it all day for sure!

Next, I really like the music break down at 9:35. That shit is so sick. Just some hard core, heavy bass that is sure to make anyone who loves dubstep go crazy. I also like the subtle bits of, what seems to me like, brief rock tones. This whole section till 11:20 is full of original mixing, which is think is very cool.

The next and final part that I am going to talk about is at 22:27. This was a huge surprise to me. This section sounds nothing like what I would expect form a Perry Gaffney mix, but I have to say, I loved it. I thought it was smooth, intriguing, and actually a good way to calm myself after some extreme music for the previous 45 minutes of amazingness.

In my opinion, this is one of the greatest sets out there and I think everyone will get a kick out of listening to it."

"Perry Gaffney Jr. delivers us for the first time in a long time a live set. Now, this is the first half of his live set, so there is more to come. Check back next week for the second half.
Okay, so lets review this b
ad boy.
To start off, Perry has a lot to live up to. From the past, we know he is definitely one to bring the boom to the party. He likes it loud, fast, and extremely pumped up. Which, in my opinion, is awesome. So before I even hit play, I know that this is going to be similar to things he has done in the past.So here we go..............

I will just let the music speak for itself.

Overall, this mix is fucking awesome. Everything blends well together and everything makes you want to get up and dance."

"Check out this heavy hit from Perry Gaffney Jr.. This takes a song, that I personally find mediocre, and turns it into one of the biggest, banging, bass bumpin’ beats I have heard in a long time. Damn, son. What I like about it is that it has that dubstep feel, but doesn’t get stuck in the “dubstep” rhythm. What I mean by that, is, there are plenty of places where the beat drops, but it doesn’t get into that “glitch” state that feels very “electronic”. This mashup really focuses on that hard hitting beat which really keep the attention of the audience. This mashup is very original and was fucking awesome to listen to. Great shit!"

So its been a while, give us an update on what you have been doing that is pushing your career forward.
"Well a whole lot has been going on since the last time we did an interview. I’m always busy grinding out music and doing other things that pertain to my career such as photo shoots, shows, and interviews like this one. However as you know I am always trying to make moves towards success in my music career but recently I have become the newest member of SimplePlay Presents (Nola) which is a music production, management, and booking company out of New Orleans. SimplePlay and my booking agent (Alex Bowen) have been a huge part of my recent success. The biggest thing pushing my career forward is my music though. Most of the time when I produce a mash-up I try and make sure it is unique in that no one has probably heard anything like it before and to me that is the key towards success in being unique."

PERRY GAFFNEY JR / DRIP DROP BASSHEAD COLLAB

Picture

"Check out this awesome mashup. The first section of this mashup is by a new artist to my ears, Drip Drop, gotta say I like the attitude he takes toward music, he really likes that upbeat and fast stuff that blows the bass through the walls of the room. I gotta say, me like-y. Then of course once Drip Drop ends, we get the second part completely mixed by the talented Mr. Gaffney. Not much of a surprise that he gives us something that blows the hinges off the door.  I really like his “Teach Me How To Dougie” party (4:15). That is probably my favorite part of his part of the mashup, just because it has that complexity that I am listening for. "

"Lil Wayne sounds good with all music it seems like, then you put him up with some music that is hardcore to the bone, he becomes even more awesome. I don’t really know how else to describe this song but to call it “Crunk”. It has everything it needs. Solid lyrics, a kick ass baseline, steady beat, excellent lyrics transition (with the music). This mashups, though it is A+B, is an excellent template for all those who are looking for some inspiration. Thanks to Perry Gaffney for another amazing mix."

"This is a good workout for your bass, if you have one.  This song has some badass beats all throughout it, thus, I suggest that you turn your music way up.  Now as for a song that is a “hit” for a party, this isn’t really what you are looking for.  This mashup is more something along the lines of a pump up while at the gym.  This is something that I think would turn people off in groups, but individually I’m sure everyone would like a listen.  Its fast, loud, and most importantly its fuckin’ dubstep.  Enjoy."

WEST COAST FLO ROCKSTAR VIA THE MUSIC PHOENIX

Picture

"I’m glad that Perry Gaffney Jr. decided to keep this track down to a simple 2 artist mashup. West Coast Flo Rockstar pits Rihanna’s Rockstar against Bassnectar’s Timestretch (West Coast Flo). Perry put together a great build that helps you to anticipate what’s to come. Plus, Rihanna’s powerful vocals over Bassnectar is just enough to rock out to without getting lost in a potential mega mashup."

"Here is another from Perry Gaffney.  Immediately what I like to hear is the “rock and roll-esque” music.  Lots of mashups try to pull this off, but almost all fail.  They either go too hard with the rock or don’t go hard enough.  What I like to hear though is the smooth transition from “rock” to more bass. Once Biggie starts rapping, there is less focus on the rock and more on the music that would make him sound good.  Then, one “After Midnight” kicks back in there is a combination of both with just adds a whole new dimension of awesomeness. He makes the mashups, I just critique them.  My favorite part of this entire mashup has to be the end though, it comes to full and complete close, doesn’t leave you hanging at all like some mashups do where they just cut out.  Good job, bro."
